Short- and Long-Term Rental Services
Your company’s Relocation Counselor arranges all house-hunting and temporary-living itineraries, travel (auto, air, or rail), and accommodations (hotel, motel, or apartment). Then, the Relocation Counselor coordinates these arrangements with the timetable requirements of your transferred employee and family.
The Relocation Group offers services for renters at both the departure location and at the destination location:
- Departure Area
The Relocation Counselor assists your company’s transferred renter with termination of the lease. Where possible, the goal is to avoid any lease-forfeiture penalty (usually the rental amount for one or two months). - Destination Area
The Relocation Counselor assists the renter with finding the right community or neighborhood in the new work locale, as well as the right rental home. This involves determining personal and family needs in terms of the desired type of rental housing, price range, and area. We also confirm other needs, such as appropriate schools, medical facilities, special-education services, child-care centers, elder-care facilities, and recreation sites.
To show suitable, available rental housing, the Relocation Counselor makes rental-home-finding arrangements with local real estate agents and/or rental professionals. Because vacant rentals typically are available for only two or three weeks, the Relocation Counselor helps ensure that the area-counseling and home-finding effort is planned correctly.
Once the new rental home has been found, the Relocation Counselor helps with the lease negotiation. When it’s time to write a lease, we provide the assistance required to ensure that a "Company Requested Transfer" clause is inserted in the lease agreement to avoid any future penalty in the event of a company-assisted transfer before the lease ends.
Before the employee signs the new lease, the Relocation Counselor reviews it to make sure that all terms and conditions are consistent with local renting practices, and that it preserves rights related to lease cancellation, fair-rental housing laws, and other matters.
